Kayaking at Aquarius Sailing Club - Discover the Water from a New Perspective

Club kayaks are available for members to use during our regular sessions on Wednesday evenings and Sunday daytime.  Kayaking is open to all members. Whether you're completely new to paddling or already confident on the water, you're very welcome to join in. If you're new to kayaking, other members are always happy to help you get started with launching, basic paddling technique, and returning safely to shore.

Safety First! For everyone’s safety: Buoyancy aids must be worn at all times while on the water. Please check equipment and Environment Agency guidance on using the Thames before launching. Follow any guidance given by AQSC session coordinators. Stay within sight of the club. The club’s aim is to keep kayaking fun, safe, and accessible to all.

Why Try Kayaking? A great way to build water confidence.  Gentle full-body exercise. Perfect for families and mixed-ability groups. Enjoy the peace and wildlife around the river.  A fun alternative when the wind isn’t ideal for sailing. Whether you're looking for a quiet paddle or something a bit more energetic, kayaking is a fantastic addition to Aquarius club life!

Stand Up Paddleboarding

Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) at Aquarius Sailing Club - Balance, Explore, Enjoy

Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUPing) is one of the fastest-growing water sports — and a brilliant way to experience the Thames in a relaxed and social setting. Aquarius Sailing Club has 2 SUP boards available for members to use during club sessions.

When Can I Use the SUPs?

SUP boards are available during our Wednesday evening sessions and during our Sunday daytime sessions. They’re perfect for calm warm days and offer a fun challenge for all experience levels.

Is a SUP Suitable for Beginners?

Absolutely! SUPing is surprisingly accessible, and many members are standing comfortably within a short time.

Start by paddling on your knees -  progress to standing when ready -  practise balance and turning skills - simply enjoy a gentle cruise around the water

SUP is suitable for adults and older juniors (subject to club guidance and supervision where appropriate).

Safety First! For everyone’s safety: Buoyancy aids must be worn at all times. Please check equipment (board and paddle) and Environment Agency guidance on using the Thames before launching. Follow any guidance given by AQSC session coordinators. Stay within sight of the club. Safety cover is typically provided during official club sessions.

Why Try SUP?

Excellent for balance and core strength. A relaxing and mindful way to be on the water. Social and easy to learn. Great cross-training for sailors. Fun alternative activity in lighter winds. Whether you're looking to improve your balance, try something new, or simply enjoy being afloat, SUP is a fantastic way to get involved - especially on warm summer days!
